Locking an NFC tag is a crucial step if you want to ensure that the information programmed onto it remains unchanged. This is often used as a security measure for your brand, but it’s important to proceed with caution. Once an NFC tag is locked, it cannot be unlocked or reprogrammed—it becomes read-only forever.
Before we begin, please make sure you have the NFC Tools app installed on your device. You can download it from the links provided at the bottom of this page if needed.
Important Note About NFC Readers:
- Android Devices: The NFC reader is typically located on the lower back side of the phone.
- iOS Devices: The NFC reader is located on the upper back side of the phone.
WARNING: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Locking a tag is irreversible. Ensure that you have tested and confirmed that the correct URL or action is programmed onto the NFC tag before locking it. We are not responsible or liable for locked tags, and you do so at your own risk.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Test the Product
Before locking the tag, test your NFC product to make sure the correct URL or action is already programmed onto it. This step is VERY IMPORTANT as locking is permanent.
Step 2: Open the NFC Tools App and Press "Other"
Open the NFC Tools app on your device. Once inside, tap on the "Other" option to access additional tools.
Step 3: Tap "Lock Tag"
In the "Other" section, you'll see an option labeled "Lock Tag." Tap this option to prepare for locking the NFC tag.
Step 4: Hold the NFC Product Up to Your Device Reader
Finally, hold your NFC product up to the NFC reader on your device. Ensure it’s in the correct position (refer to the NFC reader locations above) and keep it there until the app confirms that the tag has been successfully locked.
